The following evaluation is of a website entitled, The Medieval Times; edited by Charles de Beaumont. This site is located at http://www.medtimes.org. I fashioned my evaluation by going over the following standards: the last revision of the website, the appearance of the website, the level of interest the website provided and the audience the website was trying to reach.
The Medieval Times website was last revised on August 28, 2002. This means that all the material found on the page is accurate and updated. This shows me that the site itself can be seen as [somewhat of a=>a somewhat?] reliable source, due to the fact that everything is kept updated on what seems like a weekly basis. The only reason I assume that this site is kept updated on a weekly basis is because there are dates of events located on this page and the events are posted on a week to week basis.
The appearance of this particular website consists of a main or home page which is filled with numerous links. [comma splice=>The main links on the page are the contents of the site, this includes links to: Arts & Sciences, News, Events, Sports, Resources, Classifieds, Links, Merchants, Archives and Staff.] Every time this website is updated, the contents of the page are referred to as that particular weekÕs issue. [comma splice=>There is a heading that is actually titled, In This Issue, under this heading there are also a number of links that are separated into sections like a regular newspaper.] All of the links on this page are in working condition. The problem I do have with the appearance of this website is the particular font which was chosen. It is understandable that this font would in fact go along with the motif of the entire page, but it is hard to read. I think that it would behoove the creators of this website if they changed the font. I do like the types of pictures that are on this website, because they appear to be very authentic.
I think that this website is very interesting, because it gives information about a time that most people do that think about. I also like that this website caters towards those interested in recreating the medieval period. Unfortunately I do not feel as though this particular website gives complete accurate information about the medieval period, but that also is not the goal of this website.
The audience that this website is geared towards is that of people who are interested in recreating the medieval period, and those who have a curiosity of knowing what exactly took place during medieval times.
My evaluation of this site proves that there is no real authoritative content on this page, because there is not a site that lists the credentials of the editor or any staff members. This site is affiliated with an organization[comma] so it is hard for it to be considered an authority on the medieval time period. [Why would that necessarily discredit them?]
